Drinking Water and Bagged Ice

While there is an ample supply of running water at Bear Inn, it must go through a multi-stage process to remove discoloration or smell before it enters the home.  The water table at the beach is so high, it doesn't take much for bacteria to enter the water table.  We recommend bottled water for drinking, ice, coffee, and cooking. 

Dish and Laundry Detergents

Plan on showering or doing laundry during the week?  don't forget to stock up on dish and laundry detergent.  Please consider eco-friendly options in order to reduce the affects on the Outer Banks.

Beach Towels and Sun Screen

We provide towels and wash cloths for bathing purposes only.  Please remember to bring your own beach towels for the beach.

You will get plenty of sun while at Bear Inn.  Please remember to bring plenty of sun screen, and consider "reef safe" options that are less harmful to the environment.

Food and Drink

Make sure that you stock up in Corolla before getting onto the beach.  There are no commercial businesses physically located on the 4x4 beach, so a run into town for a few things will take you 1-2 hours round trip.  There are some services on OBX that may deliver your groceries for a fee.

Trash Bags and Toiletries

Bear Inn provides trash services that are scheduled twice a week (once mid-week and once on turnover day).  Please take trash (bagged only) out to the cans by the street, and make sure the lids are on to prevent animals from enjoying themselves

We provide a limited supply of toiletries to get you started.  Don't forget to bring some of your own.

Good Vibes and Energy

We provide some beach chairs, and an assortment of beach toys.  Additional beach items (chairs, kayaks, paddle boards, tents, bikes, etc) can be rented in Corolla.  See our rental booklet in the home for some  local recommendations.
